In the spirit of the festival Hull Comedy Festival in association with Fruit & C69 Comedy brings you the best of the festival with some of the biggest names in comedy.
Here are some of the acts taking to the festival stage to split your sides with laughter:
MC Jonny Addy – with a manic sensibility Jonny is a tour de force on the comedy circuit proving without a doubt he is one to watch in 2012.
Rob Rouse – Rob has a girlfriend, just! He also has a toddler and a dog. Rob struggles to make plans, faffs a lot and generally makes bad decisions. This often makes his life very awkward. The good news for you is, the more Rob behaves like an idiot, the more scrapes he gets into and the more funny stories he has to tell you.
'His Gift is storytelling, the tale of the year' - Time Out
Rob and his family recently left noisy, busy London for the peace and tranquility of the Peak District countryside, inevitably Rob ended up making an utter pig’s ear of it. Someone once said "Comedy is pain plus time", so come and revel in Rob's misfortunes.
As seen on THE FRIDAY NIGHT PROJECT, 8 OUT OF 10 CATS, SPOONS, GROWN UPS, LAW OF THE PLAYGROUND, EDINBURGH AND BEYOND, LIVE AT THE COMEDY STORE, plus a regular on 5 Live's 7 DAY SUNDAY.
The Great Escape is Rob’s second national tour.
'Missing this show means missing something wonderful' - Edinburgh Evening News *****
'Just go see it' - Sunday Times ****
Brendan Burns – ‘The self-proclaimed 'thinking man's idiot', will be performing for two nights only at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival so this is a rare chance to see the Perrier Award winning comic.
No subject is a no-go zone for Burns., though far from ambulance chasing, this comic handles such sensitive topics with intelligence and a rare sense of accountability. Burns' confrontational delivery belies the thoughtfulness of his material. His assertions may shock but his honesty means Burns never alienates, rather he serves to challenge his own thought-process, and ours.
Burns is on career-defining form and has spent most of the year performing in Australia and Hollywood. Described by many as the most refreshingly honest comedian of his generation, join Brendon for an hour of hilarity from Britain's most controversial comedians.
