Who's On This Year

Keith Chegwin

Keith Chegwins career began early at just 9 years old when he won a talent show in Rhyl singing a Des O'Connor song ‘I Pretend'. Des was Keith's inspiration as a kid and he gave regular concerts to his family impersonating his hero.

From then on his acting and radio career blossomed but it wasn't until the mid 1970s he became a household name presenting programmes such as Multi-Coloured Swap Shop, Cheggers Plays Pop and Saturday Superstore. As Brown Sauce, he and Swap Shop co-presenters Maggie Philbin and Noel Edmonds released the pop single I Wanna Be a Winner, which reached number 15 in December 1981.

Chegwin's next big break came during 1993 when he presented the "Down Your Doorstep", the outside broadcast segment on The Big Breakfast, in which he coined the phrase, "Wake up you beggars, it's Cheggers!". He subsequently hosted the show itself, and went on to present a revived version of the 1970s gameshow It's a Knockout in 1999 on Channel 5.

In 2000 Keith Chegwin made UK television history by presenting a Channel5 and Yorkshire TV produced show that was the UK's first ever naked game show. Keith was originally asked to host the one-off edition called Naked Jungle clothed, but opted to join in the spirit of things which caused massive controversy nationwide and as far of the House of Commons.

In 2006 he appeared in an episode of the award winning sitcom Extras alongside Ricky Gervais which helped raise his profile once again on UK TV screens.

Keith has his own recording studio and video edit suite and regularly does voice over work from home. To this day he frequently sends in jingles to the Chris Moyles Breakfast Show on Radio 1.

An interactive video game for the PS2, Wii & PC called Cheggers` Party Quiz was released on 26 October 2007 and will no doubt keep the public entertained in their homes for years to come.
