The Confidence through Comedy workshop was held in March at the New Clarence, Charles Street, Hull in order to create an informal atmosphere that would help participants relax. The workshop was developed by eskimosoup and delivered by Andy Pearson; a professional trainer and comedy performer.

The workshop trained participants in techniques including storytelling and identifying audience engagement; skills which will be useful in interview situations and when starting in new employment.

Chris Middleton, Managing Director of eskimosoup, said he believed that by working with partner organisations eskimosoup were able to leverage the influence of Hull Comedy Festival to achieve new objectives.

Chris said: “Now in its third year Hull Comedy Festival is growing as a brand and we now working with organisations in the private and public sector who can see the potential for using comedy as a tool to help them achieve anything from reaching new audiences to increasing sales.”

“The Confidence through Comedy workshops are a great example of how we are able to use creative campaigns to tackle worklessness; our main area of specialisation.”

Hull Comedy Festival was developed in 2006 by John Gilbert, Marketing Director of eskimosoup who continues to manage the festival in partnership with Hull Colour Pages, Hull BID and KCFM.

Plans for Hull Comedy Festival 2009 with a programme of events set to be unveiled in May.
