Hull Comedy Festival Anagram Top 10

26 Sep 2009

Wow folks - Hull Comedy Festival is now only 4-weeks away.

If you haven't got your copy of the brochure yet, head to Tourist Information, or grab one from one of many outlets in and around Hull.

In the meantime, we thought we'd try our hand at a bit of fun - though warning, some of the content below is a bit ruder than our usual stories!

Hull Comedy Festival Anagram Top 10

Without wishing to step on the toes of Hull Comedy Festival stalwart Agraman the Human Anagram, we've gone and found ourselves an online anagram generator.

Here are our top 10 anagrams of acts appearing at Hull Comedy Festival 2009.

10) Andy Train

He's been described as warm, funny, camp, entertaining and even bloke, but if there's one thing we can be sure about; he Ain't Randy.

To find out if that's true, check out his show on Tuesday 27th October:

9) Alistair McGowan

Alistair McGowan ("The Big Impression"), might be best known for impersonating footballers and film stars. Lesser known are his animal impersonations. Come along and check out his angry bear; it's a Maniac Growl and be scared by his uncanny likeness to a Satanic Grim Owl.

8) Stewart Francis

This Canadian's show has already sold out and he's becoming a TV regular. Although his career is blossoming he proves that no man can have it all. When evaluating all acts at this year's festival it turns out that poor Stewart has the Scrawniest Fart.

7) Alistair Cook

Ali Cook (or Alistair Cook for the purposes of this anagram!) brings his Edinburgh show to Hull. There's entertainment in many forms through cutting edge magic effects, stand up and possibly a Satiric Look at modern life?

6) Keith Chegwin

Hail Keith Chegwin. For over 40 years he's been on our screens and he returns to Hull Comedy Festival to host the annual charity dinner full of games and laughter. An icon of pop culture he is probably better known as Cheggers, or as we like to think of him the Geek with chin.

5) Daniel Kitson

He claims that his new stand up show is about finding something important in an ocean of twaddle. Well, unless you've already bought a ticket I'm afraid you won't find out what that is, nor will you get the chance to check and his sandals and his legendary Kind Toenails.

4) Live Naked Idiots

Let's face, this lot have a pretty bizarre name to begin with. It doesn't take much imagination to convert this comedy group from live to evil. There'll be plenty of energy, laughs and characters at the show, and a bit of drama too if they tell you the shocking story of their Violated Dinkies.

Ignore the angry Spanish critic that saw the show last year "Avoid! Die! el stink!", they're actually pretty good.

3) Scarlet Lights

This sassy comedy group are bringing their Edinburgh show, "Retail is Detail" to headline the Best of Hull Comedy night. We found some interesting anagrams, though frankly didn't dare write them.

Strangely most centre around uncomfortable sounding medical conditions. Watch out for a nasty case of Hell Scrag Tit or a bout of the Rectal Slights.

2) Idiots of Ants

Maybe its because they are one of the UK's most popular comedy troupes? Maybe its because the word "idiot" lends itself well to Spanish words?

Either way, not only will this show make you laugh, it can even cure the Spanish flu as you too can say Adios Snot Fit!

1) Chris Ramsey

And finally, there's a reason why we've booked this rising star of comedy to host this year's Hull Comedy Awards.

Watching Chris perform is a rollercoaster of emotions. Laugh as he tells you about the amusing incident that happened on the way to the gig, squirm as he tests the borders of decency with some controversial material, and for those who see the real emotion of his onstage lovemaking; Cry as He Rims.

That concludes our chart - sorry B13, just couldn't find any anagram material in there!
